11/07 - Leroy

Leroy is reported to have been an Amish workhorse, who was then sent to auction and bought as a hack horse. I have no idea for how long he had each job. For whatever reason, he then went to auction, and was bought by a broker, then sold to another broker, and on and on he was passed between brokers for a number of months, and was slated to load up on the truck for that fateful, final trip.

3/07 - Jen

Jen is the full sister to my favorite mare, Lakota. After Jen's owner fell on hard-times and needed to sell her , and seeing pictures and speaking to her owner, it became apparent that Jen needed to come here. Jen is a 10 year old Curly/Appaloosa mare. She was graded as a 1.5 on the scale by the vet who examined her prior to her trip from Texas. Jen is also pregnant. She is a very, very sweet mare, and hopefully will be a wonderful mount for my daughter, who has taken on her daily care, including willingly getting up at 6 am even in the rain and cold to feed and tend to her, shoveling manure, refilling water, etc.

**5/18/07 UPDATE** Jen delivered a very healthy, adorable filly!

3/06 - Tally

Tally is a small pony who was at a local auction, and in danger of being sent for animal testing (or so I was told at the time, I have since learned that being pregnant she was not at risk. But that is not what I was told when I bought her.) She is pregnant, extremely overweight, somewhat frightened and appeared to be previously foundered, but its possible the rings were nutrition and/or lack of hoofcare related, as she trimmed up beautifully and was always sound. She is now on a careful diet considering her delicate condition and hoof status, she is receiving excellent barefoot farrier care using Jaime Jackson's trim methods. She is currently under a camera so I can constantly monitor her progress, and be available for equine midwifery when needed. Thank you to NEER for their donation toward Tally's ransom.

**5/5/06 UPDATE** Tally has foaled an adorable filly named Diva. And what a wild ride its been, read Diva's story here.

**12/06 UPDATE** Tally has a wonderful new home! She is the very special Christmas pony for a 2 year old little girl. I am so happy for all of them!

5/05 - Sweetie

Thank you to everyone who has purchased jewelry to help Sweetie, the sick ponys care. Sweetie has been declared healthy by the vet, and is now staying with Barbara as a companion for her blind horse, Berry. I'm hoping for a long-lasting friendship between these two brave horses. You can read Sweetie's story at http://www.freewebs.com/equinerecurrentuveitis/.

I'm happy to report that Sweetie and Berry are doing wonderful together! There have been a few little hitches in their relationship, mostly with Sweetie's reactionary kicking when she gets bumped, but even so, they seem to be very good friends.

**UPDATE** Barbara has been an AWESOME adoptive mom to Sweetie. Its been a rollercoaster ride. First Sweetie had an infected sinus cavity from a broken tooth which was improperly treated. Sweetie had a lot of corrective dentistry done, immune boosting herbs, and I'm sure more I've forgotten. Then it was discovered that Sweetie is Insulin Resistant, and she gets extremely ornery with any amount of sugar at all. Eliminating all sugars from her diet, and she is back to living up to her name: Sweetie. Sweetie continued to tell Barb that her head was bothering her, like a constant dull headache, and her bloated abdomen was not resolving no matter what sort of feed, deworming, etc., she was given. Through Barbara's diligent research, she is now treating her for mycoplasm infection with herbs and minerals. She said that Sweetie is improvement greatly on this program, the swelling over her eyes has diminished, her abdomen is beginning to be less bloated. THANK YOU, BARBARA!!!!!
